The next project was to create an installation based on the theme of dreams/nightmares. This was one of those 'eureka' moments where as soon as the brief was set I knew exactly what I was doing.

At home I had stacks and stacks of old 70's vinyls that were handed down to me, most of them had a neon quality to them. This was especially interesting as I once had a dream where I was trapped in some sort of neon psychadellic crack den. It was meant to be.

After a few sketches to get my visual language sorted, I got straight to work on a lifesize room hammering the vinyls and CDs in a scale-like pattern (shown in the above three images).

I finished one wall of this overwhelming project and decided it was not as neon or psychadellic as I imagined it to be. Partly due to the time constraints and lighting, I quit this initial work and set off to do something I was more engaged in.

Sat right behind my desk, the final piece (on the left) emerged from the vinyl sleeves. Having this punch of colour paired with the translucent curtains, with the neon paint, got me enthralled with the process. It was finished shortly after it started.  Overall, I am pleased with the final psychadellic den. Though I wish I took more time to think about the outcome at the beggining, and took it through more sketching and planning phases to help realise an abstract idea better.
