The second brief we were given was to use A4 plain white paper to create a piece of art to enhance or cover the body.

My initial brainstorm identified creating texture/shadows with the paper which would photograph well. Ultimately I decided to utilize a shape and use repetition and size to create something dynamic, but the scale would have to be determined by how much time I had left to create the intricate loops.

Making a dress seemed like a large task; I figured to save time and the tips of my fingers that I would make something that resembled a headpiece with the draping chains.

Following the sketches and planning these long chains emerged. Forethought had told me to make first and figure the rest out later, so I had made these with the intent to cut them shorter to suit my needs when the construction was occuring.

The chains worked semi-successfully. I would have preffered to work with a less delicate process, as well as the chains themselves didn't produce many shadows or interesting textures. To overcome that I decided to exaggerate further the size difference between the folowing cylinders.

Shown to the left are the final images made for this project.

Now, I'm no where close to a 3D or photography person, however I did try to create interesting poses with a natural background. The photos emerged with varying degrees of success.

Constructing the headpiece was difficult, as not only did I have the intricacy of the paper, I also had the trouble of making it fit my models head. Despite the troubles it fit perfectly and I was pleased with the composition of the cylinders. The chains were harder to place as they wanted to move around in the wind which made it significantly harder to estimate where they would eventually drape.

Mid-way through the shoot it started to rain and the paper turned to mush. Not much is left of the headpiece at this time.

Overall, I enjoy the 'forest-y' aesthetic to the model, headpiece, and background. I am also proud of myself for diving into a project that I had zero experience or knowledge in to begin with, while creating an outcome that resembled my initial idea.
